Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn is the signature transit of this era in all our lives, the most radical and deep push for change in the collective since the 1960s. It first peaked in June of 2012, along with an eclipse and the transit of Venus over the Sun, again in September 2012, then May 2013, and now on November 1. It's an interesting exercise to think back to these times, to identify repeated themes in our inner worlds and events in our outer worlds.
Outwardly, you have only to turn to the news to see the effects of this potential transformation, however chaotic and destructive. In the lives of humans there's always those who push for greater freedom and those who will resist the need for change and want to preserve the status quo. We are seeing this power struggle everywhere on the planet, big and small, and every institution you can name is wobbling, fracturing or having to adapt to necessary change. It's all part of this powerful push for real transformation, an expression of the cycle of death and rebirth.
How it affects each of us individually depends on what this activates in our charts. The houses that contain the first half of Aries and Capricorn are the hotspots for both radical and deep change, the Aries house being more radical than the slower, yet deeper, processes in Capricorn. Anything in the signs of Aquarius and Scorpio, who are ruled by Uranus and Pluto, will also be in the spotlight. In terms of planets, asteroids and other significant points or axes, anything in the 7-13 degree range of any sign will have been getting simultaneous aspects from this intense double teaming during 2012 and 2013. This current peak is at 9 degrees (and incorporates Medusa and Hekate!).
The North Node of the Moon is a visionary point in any chart that gives us a significant look into the future and works like a directional arrow for soul intentions. It's the kind of awareness that comes to us in the form of intuition, vision, foresight or sudden insight and psychic awareness. Normally when this node gets activated, you get bits of the jigsaw of a potential future, a knowing that's hard to objectify or validate because it can be so subtle. In the last two months this node has been highly activated by visits from Saturn and Mercury, making it far less subtle and with an increasing imperative to get in touch with our deepest soul's calling.
This North Node, Mercury, Saturn conjunction in Scorpio is the head of a brilliant and powerful kite arrangement, sextiling both Mars in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn, both of which trine each other and the healing goddess Hygeia exactly on the South Node. Even in a "normal" month this would be potent for manifesting new enterprises in the world, let alone dreams and dharmic visions. This particular kite looks more like a powerful crossbow but with the new moon eclipse on the North Node, instead of an arrowhead, it feels like a soul seeking missile. The new moon is always a time of new beginnings for the next month but being supercharged by an eclipse represents the same but for months and years to come.
Now this all sounds fabulous and like a great cosmic conspiracy, which it probably is. However with Saturn here in the mix, there is a profound concept of dharma here, that which we must do because our souls call us to. With the old lord of time and karma though, there's always work to be done and it will take its time, requiring great clarity, discipline and self responsibility. For some lucky enough to get the breakthroughs, the next step is laying the foundations to build upon. For those who don't, it's about digging deeper to find our own truths and inner authority and to be more receptive to the subtler voices within. Either way, there is a great deal of support here. Saturn has a wide trine to Jupiter, something that tightens in the next months, a great duo of manifestation and grace, while the Sun in Scorpio trines both Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, bringing additional sensitivity and healing energy into the present equation.
So it looks like being another huge month, with some of the earth shaking chaos of the Uranus/Pluto but with extraordinary opportunities to become more aligned with our soul purpose and for taking big steps towards creating an even more soul inspired life. As the old ground shakes, the cracks allow new energies to be released and repressed ones to be reclaimed. The eclipse peaks on the evening of the 3rd (8.46 pm AWST, 10.46 pm AEST, 11.46 pm EDST). It would be good to tune in!
