Stoking Inner Fires

Use your inner fire to liberate new energies and launch new opportunities

Once again we have a complex mix of contradictory processes underway this month. It all begins with the deep wateriness of Pisces being magnified by the Sun conjuncting Neptune and supported by a Cancer Moon, while being challenged by a square to Saturn and an opposition from the Black Moon.

Simultaneously, the element of fire is continuing to awake, with all the expansive and liberating energies of Jupiter and Uranus activating trines and grand trines between Leo, Aries and Sagittarius.

All of which must be seen against the backdrop of another peak in the Uranus/Pluto square "coinciding" with a total solar eclipse on the 20th, 12 hours short of the Equinox and in the last degree of Pisces! This is an exceptional synchronicity and while for the outer world just about anything could happen, on an inner level it speaks of dramatic shifts and changes, with breakthrough, change-your-life type of experiences possible. (While not visible from Australia, the eclipse peaks at 5.46 pm AWST and 8.46 pm EDST)

The Sun in Pisces is not only conjunct Neptune but also Persephone and Chiron, a multi-chakra dynamic that guarantees great movement psychologically and spiritually. It brings possibilities of deep healing, depending on how deeply we are prepared to journey into our wounding and the underworld.

Neptune has been called a planet of psychic and spiritual gifts, a dissolving and sensitising influence that informs all spiritual awakenings and openings. Its energies can be well used through any quality meditation and at times like this should be to make the most out of it and to alleviate some of the worst of the Saturnian conflicts. It can also completely space us out, take us out of our bodies and anaesthetise us emotionally, while opening up our upper chakras.

This might sound great but with Persephone and Chiron around the journey is as much down as it is up into the stratosphere. To choose to escape this challenge to face the shadowy areas within only forces the more challenging energies to act more harshly.

Either way, expect the first week of the month to be quite rocky emotionally as the Sun navigates strong aspects to Saturn, Neptune, the Black Moon, Persephone and Chiron in quick succession. Expect upwellings of old wounds, memories and various psychic-emotional residues - all part of the cleansing and detoxifying urges of this time.

Fortunately, the Cancer Moon sends good supportive trines to the Sun and its fellow travellers. This theme of emotional purification, one that goes hand in hand with any real transformation, is reinforced by the Moon also being in opposition with an intense conjunction of Pluto, Hekate and Ceres in Capricorn.

Cancer is a lovely position for the Moon accentuating the very best of the mother archetype with her capacity to provide love, kindness, nurture, safety and emotional protection. One aspect of her shadow though is difficulty in letting go of her attachments, particularly to those in her care. Within us, it means our attachment to our own emotional patterning and to our "mother complexes". With such aspects to Pluto, radicalised by squares to Uranus, change is inevitable and in fact necessary to our emotional health, freedom and empowerment.

Now, on another level, we simultaneously have these processes of awakening our fire, most represented by Venus, Mars, Eros and Psyche all in Aries and getting closer to Uranus in the course of the month. And as they do, they are getting great trines from the benevolent Jupiter in Leo. Sound the trumpets! It's time to break out from our conditioning and self limiting patterns, take some risks in the name of passion and inspiration, and express ourselves more fully.

It is no accident that in the Australian version of the month's chart, this is all happening in the 5th House, the house of the child and creativity. It's a time then of liberating the child within, awakening our essential individuality and its creative juice, joy and potency. As Picasso said, every child is an artist and with Mars and Venus getting together in this house and in Aries, it's time to find outlets for this creative birthright in each of us. With a sextile to Mercury in Aquarius (now in forward motion!) and trines to Jupiter and Juno in Leo, the support is there to not just open the creative channels in us but to bring them into every other aspect of our lives.

With Eros and Psyche also joining in Aries, bringing their more refined energies to Venus and Mars, there will be equally fiery and liberating movement on the relationship front, with the urge to break free of stultifying relationships and taking risks towards soul to soul connections. The outcomes will be highly unpredictable as the four join the explosive Uranus around the same time as the eclipse but we can be sure that whatever happens, we will be far more awake on every level.

So, it's going to be a big month, of multiple challenges and opportunities, with upheaval of the old and openings to new ways of being. Take care of yourselves emotionally while using the fire within to launch anew.
