Gemini, befitting the sign's energy, is very busy this month, with Mars, Lilith, Pallas Athena, Sun, Jupiter, Venus and Black Moon across its skies, while still reverberating with the recent eclipse. These are also the last weeks of Jupiter in Gemini, before the giant planet moves into Cancer on the 26th. This 12 month transit has sent the Twins' energy ballistic with expanded learning, curiosity and cerebral brilliance, as well as charging up the trickster elements of the psyche and producing excessive mental chatter to add to the general state of chaos in this last year.
The warriors and the lovers gather at each end of the signs, the same combination of Mars, Pallas and Lilith that made last month so formidable. They are still exactly together at one degree of Gemini, while Venus passes through late Gemini with Jupiter and the Black Moon. The warriors go slippery as each squares Neptune and the initial Moon position in Pisces while Venus/Aphrodite gets stretched between heaven and the underworld.
In the middle of these extremes is the Sun, which sextiles Uranus in Aries while squaring the conjunction of Neptune, Moon and Chiron in Pisces. The former is a highly energetic aspect linking air and fire, which is great for individual freedom of expression and encourages leaps of faith into the new and the invigorating.
Squares from Gemini to Pisces alone are tricky, as the airy headiness of the former doesn't mix well with the fluid, emotional and sometimes swampy waters of the fish. Throw in Neptune and the clarity of the rational mind gets undermined by the very different agendas of the inner worlds and the sensitising and purifying urges of the planet. The normal distinct definitions of the Sun, and the warriors above, lose their edges and temporarily their effectiveness. It's like driving in fog, trying to kill a ghost with a sword or run through water.
Fortunately, the Uranian factor will partially compensate with these temporary lapses in concentration, clarity and drive.
The Sun squaring Chiron pulls us downwards as well, as the healing imperatives of the Wounded Healer conflict with the Gemini urge to stay in the rational and detached. It describes the continuing focus over the last months on deep emotional healing and, as Chiron also squares Mars, Pallas and Lilith, the focus on the healing of anger, rage and associated toxins, especially in the first weeks of the month.
As for the lover Venus, her operations and urges normally get a welcome boost in freedom, positivity and expression from Jupiter - together they are usually in party mode (so be careful with excess!). However, the presence of the Black Moon brings a much deeper tone to expressions of love, a searing demand to feel more deeply, to love with commitment and passion, to push through blockages to deeper intimacy. So Venusian affairs are being offered great heights and depths, an extension of the need to truly honour the feminine in all her power as well as her beauty, within oneself and in the beloved.
Mercury, who rules Gemini, starts the month in early Cancer but is close enough to conjunct the Black Moon, Venus and there is even a wide aspect to Jupiter. The planet links the operations of the mind with the loving qualities of Venus, the depth of the Black Madonna and the exalting energies of Jupiter. Not a bad combination if you can handle the different layers! And we can enjoy the three together in the night sky during the month.
Curiously, this Mercury position is also a grounding one, as it is the base of a grand trine with Saturn and Persephone in Scorpio and the Moon/Neptune conjunction in Pisces. This means that, even though there's a lot of difficult to understand movements and fluctuations in the collective, Mercury reflects that our minds can still draw from the steadying discipline of Saturn, while connecting well with the psychic and healing processes occurring in Pisces. Simply put, you can still get a handle on things and make use of the movement. The trine between Saturn and Neptune will be around for the next three months and is one of the best for manifesting our subtler gifts, visions, insight and creativity. We seem to be more able to grasp the creative possibilities of what we see or intuit and translate them into action and form.
Saturn in Scorpio is equally an excellent position for providing focus, discipline and endurance to creative, spiritual and healing work. Given half a chance, he specialises in piercing into deep, dark, mysterious and magical territory. That Mercury starts the month in great contact with him and Neptune is a gift, given the psychic fluidity of the month.
We are also fortunate that Venus and the Black Moon will lock into the same grand trine during the month, grounding and sensitising the expressions of each. We can look forward to Jupiter doing the same next month.
