The square between Uranus and Pluto has been the defining transit of the last 18 months and will continue to be so for some time. It's been described as a quickening, of massive karmic wheel turning, with dramatic eruptions of the spirit of revolution. Anywhere you look you can see the workings of this monster of a transit, all the way from the inner worlds, through our personal lives and into the obvious upheavals of the global scale.
So when the Sun and Moon intertwine with it, the whole month gets on this big unpredictable wheel. The effects will be most strongly felt in the houses that contain mid Aries and mid Capricorn in our individual charts. That the Sun is in Cancer also puts this sign on notice as well. Expect change, challenge and movement.
I don't often comment on outer events suggested by such transits but there is a feeling with this one that Australia may get some major wakeup experiences during this time, ones that could shatter the illusion that we are immune to the rest of the world's upheavals. This obviously is already happening financially but there may be more to it this time.
Being so security and safety conscious, Cancer is traditionally not keen on such change and will tend to want to resist and/or hide. That's natural enough but to do so only forces the energy to get more ruthless and stressful. Oppositions to Pluto alone mean that you have to accept the necessity of personal transformation. It is intent on transforming us to the core of our being so that we can live closer to our authentic selves and is not waiting for our permission. The Sun is conjunct the Black Moon and Jupiter, which adds to this notion of dramatic shifts between dark and light powers, upper and lower chakras, flashing between the underworld and the heavens. Here lie the deeper treasures and mysteries of this time, a three-way combination that also lays the foundation for the kite and the grand sextile. This trilogy trine Neptune in Pisces and an exact Saturn/Persephone conjunction in Scorpio, a grand trine we've met before as one of the best for translating vision and spiritual insight into physical manifestation. If we can avoid getting stunned in the Plutonian spotlight, we'll be able to see tremendous and subtle possibilities for owning greater power through a unique linking of mystical sensitivity and practical realism.
The second grand trine has Pluto as its pinnacle, sending out trines to the healing goddess Hygeia in Taurus and to the sacred masculine Shiva in Virgo, all in earth signs. The two complete triangles then form the star and each of its six points sextile each other in a grand unifying arrangement. The trines flow like a deep, Ganga-like river, while the sextiles are like bubbling, oxygenating trout streams.
It would take at least two of these columns to flesh out the full implications of this but to summarise, the grand sextile links great healing and spiritual power in ways that can allow us to go with the deep and liberating transformations of the Pluto/Uranus square. Its earth elements grounds the whole deal and assist anywhere that we may be attempting to manifest our visions and if we are warming up to being able to make a real difference in an increasingly challenged world.
What is spectacularly good news is that, now in Cancer, Jupiter adds its expansive and growthful energies as it activates every single point of the grand sextile exactly during June and July. There's an increasingly strong aura of benevolent protection as this happens, enhancing the feeling of the grand sextile as a holding prism to contain the intense workings of the Pluto/Uranus. The grace is clearly present.
Alongside these big dramatic constellations are some juicy and supportive sideshows. The warriors continue to be strong, with Lilith, Pallas and Mars still on their road trip through mid-Gemini, while Venus is exactly conjunct Ceres or Demeter in early Leo. The former is great for getting things done and spearheading new projects and passions, while the latter has a mother/daughter feel about it, connecting love, unity and nurture.
There's a lovely visualisation to do with Ceres, from the writings of Jean Houston, appropriate given some of the stresses and fears around big changes in this time of Cancer, particularly for the vulnerable child within. Basically, you invite your inner child to appear, then draw him or her into your lap where you can enclose your child in a safe, loving embrace. Then you invite the Great Mother, in whatever form she appears, to embrace the both of you. Really feel her, breath and let yourself melt into the compassionate arms of the Mother.
Things go better when the child within feels safe.
